Dutch Oven Bread – only 4 ingredients come together to make this delicious bread. It’s crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. This overnight bread is easy, no fuss, and a great first recipe to try if you have never made bread before!
Dutch Oven Bread
3 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp salt
½ tsp active dry yeast
1 ½ cups lukewarm water
In a large bowl combine dry ingredients. Pour water over the dry ingredients and use a wooden spoon to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest on your counter for 8-18 hours. I usually make mine the night before and bake it in the morning, usually at the 12 hour mark.
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees with your Dutch oven or cast iron pot inside. Roughly shape the dough into a ball with your hands, coat the dough ball in olive oil and sprinkle flour lightly all around it to prevent sticking. Once the oven has preheated, remove the Dutch oven from the oven and place the dough ball inside. Place the lid on the Dutch oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is browned. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
